Quotable Quotes

Posted by SternMystic in ,

I want to share with you some funny and thought provoking dialogues from one of my favourite movies - Sleepless in Seattle starring Tom hanks and Meg Ryan.

The dialogue: Tom's 10yr old son is missing (he runs away to meet Meg) and he is questioning his son's best friend along with her parents. After a lot fo co-ercing and negotiating, the next few dialogues follow

Father: Please tell us where he is
Daughter: NY
Father: (turns to Tom and says) No Way, she wont say.
Tom: That would be NW, whats NY?
Daughter: New York, I bought him tickets from our computer online
And so Tom flies to New York chasing after his son.
My pearls of wisdom: In this world of acronyms like lol, lmfao, bfn, etc we certainly are having a way with words (more like away with words). But sometimes lets use it right, as one of my friend recently shared in this cartoon with me over gtalk status.

The dialogue (courtesy imdb):
Jonah Baldwin: If you get a new wife, I guess you'll get to have sex with her, huh?
Sam Baldwin: I certainly hope so.
Jonah Baldwin: Will she scratch up your back?
Sam Baldwin: [shocked] What?
Jonah Baldwin: In the movies, women are always scratching up the men's back and screaming and stuff when they're having sex.
Sam Baldwin: How do you know all this?
Jonah Baldwin: Jed's got cable.
Sam Baldwin: Oh.

My thoughtful take: Child proofing cable tv will only get you so far. Information has a way of reaching those that want to know, in this case, Jed's got cable :)

9 months and this is the best you could come up with. pathooey, that's a freakin ugly baby if there ever was one. you need to get screwed and keep that trap shut for another 9 months - try again sucker!!

[zaph] I used to be proud of your over-grown cerebellum but with this comment I am forced to re-think for several reasons, some of which are stated below:
1) The fact that the last post was made 9 months ago does not attribute to the fact that I have spent all this time planning my next post
2) In continuation, if it has been 9 months, I would be rusty and might actually need to gather momentum slowly
3) I fail to see how getting screwed will enhance my next post
4) Or for that matter keeping my trap shut for another 9 months
5) Over all I would classify your comment as a silly rant, at best.

[zaph] All that being said however, I like the fact that you are probably the only one that bother coming back after 9 months (lets ignore that fact that it was my IM status for a couple of days, shall we). Please feel free to rant, rave and blow steam any which way you wish. Much like Amanda Tapping, I put my audience on a pedestal.

Are you a closet romantic comedy junkie?? Would you like to be invited to us gals' next RomCom Nite? :)

[fiona] I got my fav dialogues pretty much down pat. And I do re-runs pretty often, so there.

[woorkeri] Yes it is. You always did have a poetic way off putting words together. Your "It's a 'makes you smile' kinda post" one liner, made me kinda smile :)

[charanya] Who said anything about being closeted? Au contraire, Im pretty open about it. But I prefer watching alone, cuz I don't want any intrusions, interferences or anyone else's point of view while I'm watching my fav films. That apart, I dont mind crashing ur gals nite out though....just lemme know when.
