How MM is MORPG, World of Warcraft?

Most us are aware of the revolution form MMORPG's such as Everquest and WOW. First off, let me say that I am an ardent fan of WOW and have been logging quite some hours on it. However, quotes such as "At peak hours more than 100,000 Koreans are playing at the same time" are misleading to the layman, refer to article at http://hightechmagazine.com/managearticle.asp?C=200&A=5951 . If you have been to Ironforge then you know why, for the benefit of the less equipped let me explain. Although WOW is supposed to be this one huge RPG, a character that you create, play and build is associated with a realm of your choice. Once in a realm, the character is never allowed to move to other realms. In effect, this is like continents without sea or air travel, no “beam me up” either. One could intuit that each realm is setup in a separate server. All this is fine form the gaming and design perspective. But, when you announce the total number of players in all of the realms, it becomes plain marketing with hidden loopholes. Cuz, this is no different from combining stats from different games into one. A better idea would be to quote the highest populated realm and if required, clearly state total of all realms. As a fan , let me state WOW does not need this to pickup players or sales, it is fast becoming one of the most played/talked about games of this decade. Kudos to you hard working people at Blizzard, you guys have done a great job, keep the quality up and the lag down.
